i have a peavey 6505+ 112 guitar amp that just stopped working. when i turn it on now the two power tubes light up and the 5 pre tubes light as well but the little led channel light do not light up and i get no sound. if i crank the vol. up i get a faint signal and if i plug the guitar directly into the return of the effect loop i get a signal. anyone have any ideas to what the problem is.

Hi and welcome to JustAnswer,
Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...
Initially, proposed preliminary try; exercise both the EFFECT RETURN and SEND jacks. Do the plug in/un-plug a couple of times. There is a hidden audio line cutoff switch inside these jacks. Additionally, consider using compressed air or better yet, plastic safe / non-staining DeoxIT DN5 or LPS 03116 Contact Cleaner or equivalent to clean the insides of the jacks but allow sufficient drying time.
The alternative is an internal hardware issue starting with a possible low or missing ± 15V rail. If so, are you then considering a DIY (do-it-yourself) repair approach? If yes, do you have access to and familiar with a multimeter and even a soldering iron?
Equally important, could you make use of the schematic diagrams?
