Customer Question

I have a 1999 aiwa compact disc stereo radio cassette recorder. CSD ED87U

All works well except for the CD--the lights go on but then nothing happens. I have tried working discs. When I press play-the disc rotates very quickly but no sound.

thank you

Thanks for using justanswer.

First of all try to reset your unit.Unplug all the wires connected to it,and leave the unit for about 30mins.After that again connect the wires and start up the unit.
If it dose not help then,
The drive is not reading the disk properly. This is either caused by a fault in the laser/lens/drive itself which is leaving the laser misaligned and unable to read the disk or it is caused by dirt in the drive effecting the lens.

There is a Laser cleaning CD that you can purchase from any audio shop - its not expensive and useful to have around anyway. I would recommend you try a good qulity one such as this from Maxell

You may find that this will resolve the problem as a simple and quick fix.

If the cleaning disk does not work then the unit will have to go for service repair

It can be done in any electronics shop.First quote about the cost of repiar, It should not cost you much.

It would be kind enough of you if you click ACCEPT.
