Hi and welcome to JustAnswer,

Based on your post, your concern is the actual tape not the player.

Generally, yes. Most tape catridges are made up of 2 halves held in place by 4 or 5 small screws. Internally, there would be two (2) spools for the supply and take-up of the actual tape, a small side spring for the tab/cover and a spring loaded lock to prevent the spools from turning, rollers and guides.

If you are wanting to turn the spools, there is a small hole at the bottom rear of the reverse of the tape. Recessed inside is a lock that has to be pressed on to free up the spools for them to be able to rotate manually. In the below image, this would be in the dotted yellow circle.
