It means something has triggered the error management system to show a failure of some kind. It could be a servo motor not functioning properly, the disc handling mechanism out of synchronization, the control IC or software malfunctioning, etc. In other words, there are many possibilities and it will need to be evaluated or diagnosed to determine the exact problem area.

First, try to reset your player:
On the left side of the turntable is the driver board. There is a memory clear switch at the top near the center. This resets CD unit to NO CD's. If you have CD's in the unit you will have to take them out manually.

If the reset does not solve the problem, it would be better to get it repaired by a technician near you.
