Customer Question

I have a Yamaha CVP 209 with a Floppy Drive. Is there anyway to have the CVP 209 floppy disk information read by a windows computer so I can download and play MIDI files from the computer?

Technician's Assistant: Does the hard drive icon appear on your desktop?

I am using a after market floppy to read the disks. The icon shows on but the computer will not recognize the files.

Technician's Assistant: Have you tried accessing the drive on a different computer?

Yes, same thing happens on each of 3 computers I have tried.

Do you mean that you are using an external floppy drive via USB?

The CVP-209 has a built in floppy. I am trying to read a disk from the CVP-209 on a USB external drive without success. My ultimate goal is to be able to download MIDI files on a floppy from my computer and play them on the CVP 209. Wondering if there is a way to do this - given that the computer will not read the CVP 209 floppy. If there is a way to reach my goal I would like to learn about and discuss. Thanks

Yes, you will need to purchase an external USB floppy drive so that you can connect that to your computer and insert the floppy drive from the CVP 209 into it.
