My Roland Cube 20X guitar amplifier is not working properly.

Customer Question
My Roland Cube 20X...

My Roland Cube 20X guitar amplifier is not working properly. The "Lead" functions of the various tones, i.e., Metal, Stacked Metal are not working. In addition the "Tuner" function is also not working. Can this amplifier be reset? Please advise as to how this can be fixed. Thanks!

Technician's Assistant: What's the brand and model of your instrument?

Roland Cube 20X

Technician's Assistant: How long has this been going on with your instrument? What have you tried so far?

Its been going on for months (I don't play my guitar everyday, so its been a while)

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Instrument Expert to know before I connect you?

I think that's it! Mainly the Lead sounds and the Tuner function are not working.

Hello my name is ***** ***** I am a Roland certified technician. In answer to your basic question. "no there is no reset procedure" the computer or in this case the "modeling" ic automatically resets when you power cycle the amplifier. The trouble sounds like that ic has gone bad. It controls the functions along with the tuner. I would think you will probably need it repaired by Roland.

Wow, so that’s it for $23 bucks “take it to Roland repair” I probably could have figured that out. I’d like a refund!

Not every unit is repaired by simply pushing a combination of buttons. Parts do fail and have to be replaced.

Keep in mind, I can only give you truthful information as simply telling you only what you wish to hear but what may not necessarily be true would only hurt you. If you would like to attempt repairs yourself I would be glad to tell you what chip to replace. But to do it you will need souldering equipment and the technical skills to replace it.
