It's a 1918 Holton Alto I just got. I've managed to get it

Customer Question

it's a 1918 Holton Alto I just got. I've managed to get it mostly playing, but won't give a tone under middle G
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: Holton Alto Elkhorn 1918 I believe (40383)
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I received it on E-bay and the octave post to the neck had been jammed down. I repaired that. The pads are pink, but the springs are obviously old. I'm trying to locate air leaks
JA: Anything else you want the instrument expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: The question is, can I patch it together, or do I have to launch into a full rebuild.

Sounds like there are some air leaks.

The best way to discover where the air leaks are is to shine a long thin bright light through it - there are lights designed for this technique.
