Residential electrical. So 1 am I'm laying in bed watching
Ok so 1 am I'm laying in bed watching tv all the sudden power in the room goes off? Check the breaker nope not tripped. I didn't recall that the fixture in the bathroom has been humming for the last week I had chalked it up to light bulbs about to go out itap the fixture and Wallah all the power comes back on I didn't notice a little glow behind the fixture so I immediately kill the breaker and remove the fixture this is a very old fixture probably original to the house built in the late 50s so anyway once the pictures off I kept the wires and turn on the breaker but now everything on that breaker has no power the breaker never tripped and there are no GFI seems like it's possibly a bad breaker but just seems kind of unlikely the way it happened so today i replaced the breaker still So today I replaced the breaker and still no power I even tried shifting the load to a workibg breaker and still no power I didn't disconnect any spices when removing the old fixture the old fixture had a small mark on it where it seemed to be grounding out today i also removed fan / light/ heater fixture and in the other bathroom suspecting that maybe there was an issue with the wireing in there i discovered that 2 of the neutral wires are hot if i place a volt meeter on the white wire and the other end on to the ground it reads 120v with the swtich off … read more
