The DHC switches must be getting a signal from another source. Change the codes.

Ask Your Own Electrical Question
Customer reply replied 8 days ago
what other sources send out signals?
Customer reply replied 8 days ago
how do I switch the code?
Electrician: Mike G., Master Electrician replied 8 days ago

Possibly a neighbor has the same switches set to the same code .

Remove the cover and you'll see 2 setting dials. Set to new code.

I have no neighbors, but am using a dehumidifier. Could that cause the problem?
Electrician: Mike G., Master Electrician replied 8 days ago

That shouldn't affect the switches. If it is happening often, there has to be a signal from elsewhere.

Ask Your Own Electrical Question
Customer reply replied 8 days ago
I removed one of the controller switches, and there are no switches to change code. Switch is about 18 years old
Electrician: Mike G., Master Electrician replied 8 days ago

Some of the later switches have a pin hole switch. When pushed and held an LED flashes until it gets a signal from a controller. The first code it sees is the one it sets to and the LED stops flahing. Check for pin hole switch

Ask Your Own Electrical Question
Customer reply replied 8 days ago
I looked very carefully, no pin hole on my switch
Electrician: Mike G., Master Electrician replied 8 days ago

It would be along the edge. It has to be 2 dials or a pin hole switch.

Ask Your Own Electrical Question
Customer reply replied 8 days ago
Ok, my mistake was not understanding what you meant by removing the cover. I have cover removed and have two dials, one red, one black with clock like dials. I also have a pinhole. What do I do?
Electrician: Mike G., Master Electrician replied 8 days ago

Use the dials. Only set the one with numbers. The one with letters is a house code. The setting needs to be different from other set codes other than the second switch.

Ask Your Own Electrical Question
Customer reply replied 8 days ago
the black switch has numbers, and there are 12 settings. Currently at 12 o clock.
Can I move it to 1 o clock, and do the same with the other controller? Or are you saying the two controller switches need to be set at different numbers?
Electrician: Mike G., Master Electrician replied 8 days ago

Controllers are set to house code and a number which leads the other buttons. A1 makes the remaining A2, A3 & A4. If set to A6 they follow 7,8 & 9.

Ask Your Own Electrical Question
Customer reply replied 8 days ago
Just to clarify, my controller has only one switch, not 4
Electrician: Mike G., Master Electrician replied 8 days ago

Change your house code, letter, if you have more unknown trips. Codes can travel for miles on utility lines.

Just set the one number

Ask Your Own Electrical Question
Customer reply replied 8 days ago
Mike, earlier you said not to change to house code, just the dial with numbers, now you think I should change house dial? I am pretty confused. Please explain
Electrician: Mike G., Master Electrician replied 8 days ago

Correct, don't change the house code now. Should errant signals continue in the future is when you change all devices to a new house code

Thanks for clarification. So my two controller switches should be set to the same two numbers, both set to 1 or both to 2 .....?
Electrician: Mike G., Master Electrician replied 8 days ago

If they both control the same light, yes.

Mike, I tried setting the controllers on one, two three. Lights do not work. I tried matching the house dial to same number, lights do not work. The only way I can get the lights to work is with a setting at 12 o clock.
Customer reply replied 8 days ago
I see no dial on the receiver switch, no settings there, correct?
Electrician: Mike G., Master Electrician replied 8 days ago

If no dials there has to be a pun hole switch. It's just a small hole you push in with a small wire or paper clip. When flashing it is ready to accept the next signal sent by a controller

Ask Your Own Electrical Question
Customer reply replied 8 days ago
Ok, will go look for that. but do I set controllers first, then set switch or set switch to flashing then set controller switch?
Electrician: Mike G., Master Electrician replied 8 days ago

Set LED then controller. Bear in mind if you push the controller it sends a signal

Very good.

Well, I did not find any pinhole on the controlled switch. Any ideas?
Electrician: Mike G., Master Electrician replied 8 days ago

Got to be one. Pull the switch and inspect the back.

Ask Your Own Electrical Question
Customer reply replied 8 days ago
ok will check with flashlight and loupe
Customer reply replied 8 days ago
Mike, all set. I set all three switches to 1 o clock. Let's hope the ghost has disappeared. FYI the receiver switch has a large toggle on the front. When I popped it off with a screwdriver the same red and black dials appeared.
Thanks again for your help
