Customer Question
My Harbour Breez fan...

My Harbour Breez fan (remote) lights went out when my wife turned them on this morning. I thought it might be a connection?

Contractor's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. How long have you been dealing with this?

When I buy ceiling fans they are all Harbour Breez. So, quite a long time. My wife prefers them and we have been married for 44 years.

Contractor's Assistant: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?

Yes, I install all fans.

Contractor's Assistant: Anything else we should know to help you best?

Well, I thought it might be a connection for the lights had come loose. I would think that a bad capacitor would not let the fan operate also. Is that not correct?

Hello and welcome to Just Answer. My name is ***** ***** I will be happy to assist you with your electrical question.

Please be patient as it takes time to type and provide links. Also note that the website may be sending you a telephone offer, the offer is not originating from me.

1) Where is the receiver located at? Under the ceiling canopy cover plate or inside the fan motor housing area?

2) Capacitors on a fan have nothing to do with lighting. Caps are responsible for starting the fan motor only.

3) Do you have a mulitmeter to check voltages at the receiver and at the light sockets?

4) Did you check the DIP switch settings at the receiver and transmitter both match?

5) Does the transmitter contain a fresh battery?

1) Harbor Breeze remote fans have a reputation where the receiver becomes defective and may need to be replaced.

If you have any additional questions, just let me know and I’ll be glad to answer them for you.

Otherwise, don’t forget to rate me before you log Off.

Thanks.................Kevin:)
