Hello and welcome to Just Answer. My name is ***** ***** I will be happy to assist you with your electrical question.

1) Does the wall switch box contain 1 black, 1 white and 1 green ground wire? No other wires inside the box that are bundled and spliced together?

2) What wire colors were terminated to the original switch? A black and a white?

to number 1 no other wires
Yes just black white and ground
Electrician: Kevin, Licensed Electrical Contractor replied 7 months ago

Thanks for confirming.

1) This switch requires a neutral wire that will terminate to the TP-Link. Unfortunately your switch box does not contain a neutral wire and the TP can't be used unless you extend a neutral wire from the circuit into the switch box. The white wire on the original switch is being used as the hot wire. The black wire is being used as the switched loop wire. The white wire on the TP is for a neutral wire splice.
