How do I determine...

How do I determine the correct size circuit breaker panel for an stand alone workshop. I don't suspect I would draw more than 20 amps at any given time, but do I need a box assumes everything is turned on at the same time? Workshop is 20 x 24 and I might get by with a 60 amp panel, but 100 may be a better standard to go to...

Contractor's Assistant: How old is the system in question? And have you consulted an electrician yet?

It is a brand new stand alone building about 20 feet away from my house panel. No, not yet.

Contractor's Assistant: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?

Yes.

Contractor's Assistant: Anything else we should know to help you best?

Wood Shop will have 220v saws and split HVAC Unit that also requires 220v, benches, outlets (110v) and lights.

I suggest that the 100 Amp would be the better choice for today's loads and any future additions. Do it once.

Method to determine proper size? I would suspect I need a circuit by circuit plan and total potential of everything on at same time?
Customer reply replied 9 months ago
I don't need a call and already paid way to much for this simple answer.

Total the loads by wattage, receptacles at 180 watts per outlet for general purpose. Divide by 240V for the load and add 25%
