My solar panels put out 330 volts. How can I make occasional use as in running a heater in my shop?

Contractor's Assistant: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?

No device. Just a collection of panels I installed in series.

Contractor's Assistant: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?

I just finished installing the panels on my shop roof and measured the voltage with my volt meter

Hello and welcome to Just Answer. My name is ***** ***** I will be happy to assist you with your electrical question.

1) Depending upon the quantity of panels, they are either wired in series or in parallel or a combination of each. A 330 DC volt output is not a normal output voltage. Nominal DC voltage outputs are either 12 VDC or 24 VDC or 36 VDC or 48 VDC depending upon the panel types.

2) Something is not correct with a 330 volt DC output as they don't manufacture Charge Controllers with that high of a voltage rating.

3) The amount of amperage and configuration of the panels as well as the quantity and amp hour rating of the battery bank will be the determining factor if the panels can support a heating load. In addition, the correct size inverter must be able to support the heater wattage rating.
