Customer Question

I have a question regarding replacing a receptacle.
JA: I'll do all I can to help. How long have you been dealing with this?
Customer: I am putting a receptacle that has a usb interface. Anyway the receptacle I am removing has two terminal each for the neutral (white) and two terminals each for the hot (black). the new receptacle only has one terminal for each. Can I put both neutral (white) wires on the one terminal and both the hot (black) wires on the one terminal?
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: Yes
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: I don't think so.

Welcome, if there are two holes, one for each of the two neutrals and one for each of the two hots, yes, they can be placed under the same screw. (This is probably what you have)

If not, you will need to add a 6-in pigtail to each with a wire nut so you have only one conductor under each connection.

If there is any doubt you could send the make & model or attach a picture.

Thank you
