One side of my gfci outlet is blinking red - it does not

Customer Question

one side of my gfci outlet is blinking red - it does not work - pressing the reset or test button does nothing
JA: I'll do all I can to help. How long have you been dealing with this?
Customer: since May
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: I'm not sure - how hard is it to fix?
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: I don't want to get electrocuted - and I would still have to determine which circuit breaker shuts off the power to the outlet
JA: How old is the system in question? And have you consulted an electrician yet?
Customer: it was part of a bathroom remodel in January and worked at first

Defective GFCI, replace it.

To do it safely turn breakers off until the red light on the GFCI goes out and it will be safe to replace.

Thank you

I don't know how to replace it
Expert:  ProGrade replied 10 months ago.

I can help with that. Once the power is off would it be possible for you to remove the cover plate then remove the two screws holding the device in the box? When the two screws are out you could pull on the device to remove it from the box and take a picture of it showing the wiring so that I will know how to help you to rewire it
