I just purchased a Leviton lo/off switch L02-01420-00W and

I just purchased a Leviton hi/lo/off switch L02-01420-00W and threw away the installation instructions by accident. Do I need to cut/strip one of the wires, or just put it in place on the switch.

The cord switch needs to have the hot wire cut. If you look at the edges of the cord, the smooth side is the hot and the ribbed side is the neutral. Cut the smooth side wire.
