I have power in both the light switch and in the light

Hi, I have power in both the light switch and in the light fixture but the light switch does not turn the light fixture off

Customer: it used to be an old light fixture, double wires

Hi can be one of two things one it is wired wrong at the switch and two you have a faulty switch

for the first can you shut off the breaker the switch box and pull out the switch but leave on the wires and take a few photos so we can get it situated for you

and two are you using the same switch?...........did it work before? you have another?
