Hello and welcome to Just Answer. My name is ***** ***** I will be happy to assist you with your electrical question.

1) The ceiling box should contain a white neutral wire. Perhaps the yellow wire is actually a faded white neutral wire? Please confirm?

2) Please provide me with the manufacturer name and model number of the smoke?

3) Was there a previous smoke installed in this box or is this a new installation?

Are these wires in conduit?

Are they connected to another smoke detector?
