I have an addition of a rental property and we need to demo

Customer Question

I have an addition of a rental property and we need to demo a wall in order to replace sill plate and joists and wall will be down to studs. Do we need to bring electrical up to code? If so how many outlets per feet will we need? The room is 14'X6' . Thanks.

Hi, I'm Mike G and I'll be assisting you. You would have no better time to do it. Outlets are required every 12 ft around the room. Any wall 2 ft between doors requires an outlet. Start your layout 6 ft from the door and then every 12ft.

Of course it would be an ideal time to add, but.....Is it mandatory by code or can the existing electrical config stay in place?

If you are having the project inspected, Yes. If not No.
