I have an Ingersool Rand 80 gallon compressor with a 7.5HP

Customer Question

I have an Ingersool Rand 80 gallon compressor with a 7.5HP motor. Our electrical service is unable to power the motor and I want to downgrade it to a 5HP motor. I only have 70amp service to run the motor.
Is this possible?
The compressor pictures are attached.

Hi, I'm Mike G and I'll be assisting you. No pictures. Just give me the nameplate info on the new motor.

Thanks. Actually, that's what I need an answer to - what specs should the new motor be? RPM? Frame size? etc. Will a 5HP motor work on this?

I need the info from the old motor not the tank, for RPM &etc.

Your picture is hard to read. The frame is listed on it as well as the RPM's. Down sizing the HP may work but I suggest using the size originally on the compressor.
