Connecting a Reliance generator transfer switch. Just
Just getting ready to install. I have a Firman generator and a Reliance transfer panel. Issue is my home has 320 amp service to the meter. At the meter the service is divided into 2 150 amp panels, where each panel has the neutral and ground bonded. Inside my home there are two breaker panels. I want to install the generator transfer panel next to these breaker panels. I will have to wire breakers from both panels to power the rooms I want power to go to from the generator. Question is how do I wire the neutral and ground from the transfer panel to the inside breaker panels. Reliance says I can "daisy chain" the neutral and ground from one breaker panel to the other to ensure I will be getting proper connections for the ground and neutral. The transfer panel does not switch the neutral and ground, it only switch the hot wires from line to generator, there is an off position in between. A buddy is telling me that I could be doing a double ground when I "daisy chain" the neutral and ground from one breaker panel to the other. How confusing is this? … read more
