Are you able to open your microwave oven to access its components?

Ask Your Own Electrical Question
Electrician: Wayne Roberts, Electrical Technician replied 2 years ago

It could be a magnetron tube failure aswell

Ask Your Own Electrical Question
Customer reply replied 2 years ago
not sure, that would not be the inside side compartment, it must be the inside top compartment, I have not gone in there yet
Electrician: Wayne Roberts, Electrical Technician replied 2 years ago

ok, does the light stay on when the microwave isn't in use? as in when you shut the door on the microwave and it isn't counting down or in use does the light stay on

the light stays on
Electrician: Wayne Roberts, Electrical Technician replied 2 years ago

hmm, could be a faulty door switch. You should inspect the latch and all components associated with the door switch to make sure they don't look obviously jammed or broken.

Ask Your Own Electrical Question
Electrician: Wayne Roberts, Electrical Technician replied 2 years ago

If you can access the internal components and have a multi meter handy we can test the components to verify they are functioning correctly. Before you do anything with the microwave you MUST unplug the microwave.

Ask Your Own Electrical Question
Electrician: Wayne Roberts, Electrical Technician replied 2 years ago

Do not attempt to access internal components of the microwave without unplugging it.

We may need it, some of the parts are quite costly and would warrant the purchase of a new microwave.

Hello Wayne, hope you had a great Christmas. I have been out of town, I believe the issue is with the push lever that opens the door...I guess the door latch, my daughter says you can partiall push this and the unit will run normally. What can I do?
Electrician: Wayne Roberts, Electrical Technician replied 2 years ago

If you are willing to take the microwave apart then we can replace the latch :)
