My alarm system keeps going off. It is wired into my home

Customer Question

My alarm system keeps going off. It is wired into my home electrical system. I have thrown the breaker and the lights in the area of the alarm box are off, but the wall plugs are still live. Can I go into the alarm box and cut the wires to the siren without getting fried?

Hello and welcome to Just Answer. My name is ***** ***** I will be happy to assist you with your electrical question.

1) The alarm panel should have a transformer that is plugged into a wall receptacle? Does your panel have this and if so, have you unplugged it?

2) The alarm panel will also contain a battery. Have you disconnected the battery leads to disable the panel?

Never mind. I figured it out on my own.
