I think I'm screwed, I just bought this timer and want it to

Customer Question

I think I'm screwed, I just bought this timer and want it to replace a wall switch for Christmas lights. It has just three wires two black and ground. Obviously by joining the black wires completes the circuit. I've partially programmed the unit but I can't get the Christmas lights to come on. What am I missing?

Hi, I'm Mike G and I'll be assisting you. Do you have a 2 wire voltage tester?

To determine where the problem is a 2 wire tester is required. You need to test, not guess. They are available at any home center for under $20.00. Get one and we can continue.
