I wish to install a surface mounted, two receptacle outlet

Customer Question

I wish to install a surface mounted, two receptacle outlet to my garage wall, approximately 20' from a power source. Can I power this receptacle using standard, three conductor house wiring stapled to the wall and ceiling Or do I need to run the wiring through rigid or flex conduit?

Hi, I'm Mike G and I'll be glad to assist you. The NM cable is required to be protected 8 ft from the floor. I would suggest installing 1/2" EMT with THHN conductors for the garage.
