Customer Question

I have a question about installing a single phase ac with a 3 phase Delta panel.

OK here is the situation.
I am an HVAC tech.I have a customer who has a single phase 5 ton ac condensing unit.He however has a 3 phase delta panel with stinger.
A couple of years ago he called with unit popping fuses in his fused disconnect.Eventually compressor grounded. I replaced unit with another 5 ton single phase and wired the same with the exception that I replaced fused disconnect with non fused.
Unit worked fine for 5 months, then started tripping breaker ever so often. It appears it has now gone to ground.
I do not do a lot of commercial work and not real sure exactly how the delat system works. After doing some searching on intrnet I am suspecting issue may be with that double pole breaker being connected to either A and B or B and C rather than A and C.
So here is my question. Is this what is causing the breaker to trip on occassion and eventually ground?

Hi, I'm Mike G and I'll be glad to assist you. The installation as described is not the issue. Any 2 pole combinations will give you single phase.
