have a Harbor Breeze ceiling fan powered only by remote (no chains)...battery is fresh...breaker is on...switch is in "on" light on remoye lights up when any button is pushed bu it has no effect on the fan or light...dip switches have not been tampered with since it was installed and it worked OK then...suggestions?

1) Do you have an AC voltmeter available?
2) Where is the remote receiver located? Inside the ceiling canopy cover or inside the fan motor housing?
