I have purchased Hampton Bay Motion Sensing diecast lantern

Customer Question

I have purchased Hampton Bay Motion Sensing diecast lantern sku 248 617.
This will be in our walkway on the same switch as the lantern at the door and two in our driveway (the other 3 are matching to this but not motion sensing.).
If the switch is turned off (for all four lights) will the motion sensor turn this lantern on when there is motion, as in us coming home??????????????????

Welcome. My name is ***** ***** would be glad to assist.

In order for the motion sensor to operate, power must be applied through the switch to the fixture.

Since this is being added to existing lights, there is no way to power it unless the other lights are on.

If you can get a separate power to the new motion light, then it could operate independently.

But it will take full time power for the motion sensor to operate.

Hope that explains, let me know any questions.
