I am replacing a double wall switch fan with a dimmer

Customer Question

I am replacing a double wall switch for a fan with a dimmer control. The wall switch acutally had 4 switchs(2 vertical beside 2 vertical). I can't figure out the match ups on wires from new dimmer switch. They don't color code the same and the wiring diagram is not much help.

Hope can see the details on these photos. Thx.

Touch each single wire to the looped wire and see what comes on. One should be the light, one the fan and the third must be something else. Let me know.

Let me see if I understand. Touch each wire from new dimmer to looped black wire in wall without hooking any other wire up...correct?

No, touch the wires in the box to identify where they go. One is the light, one the fan and there is one that is unknown. When they are identified we can connect them to the controller.

Looking at box straight on the top right red is lights and bottom left black is fan. See new photo.

What did the other wires do?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
They did nothing.

Where were they connected before?

Here is a photo of where the unresponsive wires were before.

Here is the diagram from dimmer packaging if that adds anything.

I have that diagram. The question was pertaining to the wires not identified in the box. I would think they had to do something.
