I want to replace a light switch with a zwave zw4001 switch.

I want to replace a light switch with a zwave zw4001 switch. The existing switch is spst, I believe, with the neutral white wires spliced outside the switch and the hot black wires connected to terminals on the right side of the switch. The zwave requires that the neutral wire be connected as well. Can I just splice a wire into the existing neutral splice and connect it to the neutral terminal? Or is other rewiring necessary?

Welcome. My name is XXXXX XXXXX would be glad to assist.

AssuredElectrical :

It sounds like there are 2 cables in that switch box. The 2 whites tied together with a wire nut, and then one black to each screw on the switch.

AssuredElectrical :

If that is the case, yes, take a short white wire and connect to your Zwave, then connect the other end to the 2 whites in the box and that will satisfy your neutral connection.

Thanks. I thought that was right but good to know for sure.
