Can I add a 2 plug outlet, just by cutting a power line going to a ceiling light?

Hi, I'm Mike and I'll be glad to assist you. Yes you can if it isn't to the switch.

I have never used this service before. I should of been a little more clear.

The power is coming from a junction box in the ceiling in an office building.

The power is running directly to a florescent Light. I turned off the light switch and cut the line. Added a 2 outlet box and a 2 outlet outlet then connected the light through that outlet. I reconnected the metal casing to the metal box and everything seem to be working correctly.

I just wanted to know if that would pass code.

Yes it will.
