AssuredElectrical :

Customer:

im not where the switch is but it is a 277 volt

AssuredElectrical :

is it a toggle style switch?

Customer:

yes

AssuredElectrical :

sorry, got knocked out and back now

AssuredElectrical :

ok, on a toggle style 277 volt switch, it should only have 2 screw terminals,

AssuredElectrical :

One for power and one for the light leg

AssuredElectrical :

277 volt is a single wire and not like 240 where it takes 2 wires

Customer:

the light is 240 the switch say 277 I have all types of switches

AssuredElectrical :

Ok, a 277 volt switch is not made for 240 volt lights

AssuredElectrical :

240 volt light needs a double pole switch

Customer:

This one has only to connection points

AssuredElectrical :

277 volt is a single pole

Customer:

two

AssuredElectrical :

two connection points is for 277 and you need 4, a double pole

AssuredElectrical :

for your 240 volt

Customer:

I have that also

AssuredElectrical :

Ok, if you have a double pole switch, then it should have 4 screws

Customer:

yes I do

AssuredElectrical :

2 screws will be one color and 2 screws another color, like 2 black and 2 brass

AssuredElectrical :

power in connects to the black screws and the light to the brass screws

Customer:

ok, so I should use a 2 wire ground

AssuredElectrical :

2 wires with a ground, correct

Customer:

Thanks just want to be sure

AssuredElectrical :

ok, glad to assist
