I have a two story house with kitchen on the first floor,
I have a two story house with kitchen on the first floor, the kitchen has been completely demolished down to the studs, no Sheetrock at all. I am installing 6 pots in the ceiling the problem is that once the ceiling is installed there is no access between the 2 nd floor and 1st floor ceiling where my recess lights will be. At this point there has been a junction box installed near one of the pots, it's not attached to anything just hanging yet connected. I have been told that this junction box must not be buried, must have access to it. Can someone please explain what to do with this box. My thinking is that I probably should not use you standard Halo pot for new construction like I normally would use with attic access. I am thinking to use the old construction type the one that are held in with 3 doing clips, this will allow access to the pots for serviceability and allow me to access this junction box, the one that cannot be buried. Am I correct to use old construction pots, and what do I do with this junction box, just let it sit in the ceiling? … read more

I have an issue with my wiring, I am an electrical engineer.
I am an electrical engineer. The issue is in a condo that we gutted. In two of the bathrooms, half walls were removed that had light switches that were over the toilet and shower. Now it is just one big room. In these rooms, when one of the dimmer switches is turned on, it sometimes cause lights in another part of the house to dim or go out. The complex was built in 1998. I have not consulted an electrician yet partially because the ceilings were changed from drop down to dry wall and I figure the issue is that two circuits have their hot or neutrals connected up in the ceiling in a combiner box and the electrician will not be able to find these boxes until I can get my condo complex to provide me blueprints. … read more
