Ran fine yesterday; today moves about 4 inches in either

Customer Question

Ran fine yesterday; today moves about 4 inches in either direction, motor runs but no power to wheels
JA: Is the power loss consistent, or does it fluctuate?
Customer: motor turns at same rpm, but no wheel movement
JA: What is the model/year of your electric?
Customer: club car probably late 80's
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I think it might just by a key; heard a little ping just before it stopped
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: 48 volt, runs great, no issues until this

Motor turns but no wheels turning. Either wheel to axle hub has stripped, or the motor to transmission coupler has stripped.

Can you raise both rear wheels and turn them by hand. Does the other wheel turn in the opposite direction? It should. If it does, likely the motor coupler has stripped. You would need to remove the motor and check the coupler.
