Customer Question

Have a question that may have been posed to you recently.... Is there a process by which an electric car can be moved while it is plugged in and charging?
JA: What is the model/year of your electric?
Customer: No specific model....All 300 volt platform
JA: What year is your Volt?
Customer: Not a Volt specifically... any model that uses a J1772 plug...
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: We've disconnected the handshake and perimeter wire but when plugged in to power, the vehicle is locked in park... do you know a process which can release the transmission interlock... using a Stage II power supply...
JA: How many miles are on the car? Has this ever happened before?
Customer: Mileage not an issue.... not happened before...The car is being used for a display for an Auto Show... can't really reveal actual model... but all the previous information is correct and accurate....
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: No... not sure you have ever had any experience with this type of obstacle... we know it is not common to ask these questions but for somebody with knowledge of vehicle electrical wiring systems, we are inquiring to see if it is possible...

NO. If charger is plugged to vehicle, vehicle has lockout switch that keeps it from being moved. Same as a golf cart. You would have to bypass the lockout switch to be able to move vehicle with charger plugged in. It would take some rewiring by someone who knew what they were doing. ,

We realize that the lockout is a safety feature which is installed in electric vehicles... Do you have the information which would allow us to bypass the lockout switch... Can such a drawing of the rewiring by completed by you?
