VerifiedThe school was sued before for fraud by federal prosecutors after a tip from former recruiters. See here: https://hyperallergic.com/493016/fraud-case-against-academy-of-art-university-in-san-francisco-will-proceed/ I'm not certain of the status of that action but the school is still in business.
However, this history of prosecutor's fraud allegations may make it easier for your son to get forgiveness of his student loan debt. There are a number of categories/bases for this, and especially take note of the "borrower defense to repayment category."
