Technician's Assistant: What brand and model of e-reader do you have?

Kindle paperwhite amazon DP755DI

Technician's Assistant: How long has this been going on with your DP755DI? What have you tried so far?

I put in my name, email, password ***** then type in the characters then click create account. I have done this a number of times but it is not working

It sounds like you want to register your kindle paperwhite to your amazon account so in this case please follow the below steps to register your kindle:

  1. From Home, tap the Menu icon, and then tap Settings.
  2. Tap Registration.
  3. Choose the Amazon account you want to use on your Kindle:

     

    • If you already have an Amazon account: Tap this option. Enter your Amazon account information. Tap Register. Your name will appear as the Registered User when registration is complete.
    • If you do not have an Amazon account: Tap this option and follow the onscreen instructions to set up a new Amazon account.Please let me know if it works for you if it does not we will try alternate solution.
