I can't connect to...

I can't connect to the internet to purchase a new book. The message that I get is "Your Kindle is unable to connect at this time. Please make sure you are within wireless range and try again. . . The devise is right next to the computer. The serial number to my Kindle is B00E 1501 1415 0AG3

Technician's Assistant: Just to clarify, what's the exact make and model of your machine?

The version according to the settings on the devise is Kindle 4.1.2(###) ###-####

Technician's Assistant: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?

I've tried restarting it. It works for reading the books already on the devise but it can't connect to the internet for purchasing new books.

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the E-reader Expert to know before I connect you?

There was an update earlier this year that I was never able to install in spite of several attempts.
