I just received a new Fire Kindle as a gift and I am trying

Hi, I just received a new Fire Kindle as a gift and I am trying to register with my Amazon account and I keep getting a registration error.
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: It's brand new and there is a number on the bottom of the box that says CE0682, model # SV98LN
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I just opened it and started trying to register it immediately. It keeps saying to try later. I verified my Amazon logon and password ***** they are the correct ones I'm entering.
JA: Anything else you want the eReader expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: I don't know...I'm trying to register it so that I can use it.

This is usually an issue with the Firmware, so I would first like you to do this please.

Remove the charger from the Kindle and hold the power button to off for 35 seconds.

Release, then connect the charger and try to turn on the Kindle and register it.
