This is usually an issue with the Firmware, so I would first like you to do this please.

Remove the charger from the Kindle and hold the power button to off for 35 seconds.

Release, then connect the charger and try to turn on the Kindle and access youe books.

Let me know the results please

Thank you

Don't call. Just tell me what to do.

ok this is different to just turning it off.

I need you please to do the instructions exactly as I indicated, so hold the power button for a full 35 seconds with the charger disconnected.

I did as you said. The Kindle turned off. I plug in the charger and pressed the button. It came on and I couldn't open my books. They are just dark squares.

Ok, we need to do a reset of the kindle

This will remove all content and return it to new, but once registered, the books will again be availble

To do the reset

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap Settings.
  2. Tap Device Options, and then tap Reset to Factory Defaults.
  3. Tap Reset to confirm.

Once done, setup the Kindle again and tell me how it then functions please.
