received amazonkindle gift card. Used it once and now it will not let me purchase a book
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: I dont know. 5/6 years maybe . Kindle fire. Why could I use the gift card right after Christmas and not now. It says I have $22 dollars left
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I have tried the amazon.com/gcd site. I have entered my code on the back of the card when it asks to apply it to purchase a book. And then it wont put the code toward purchase. I am frustrated
JA: Anything else you want the eReader expert to know before I connect you?

Are you trying to purchase a book from your Kindle device? If there is a gift card balance sufficient to cover a digital purchase, the payment will always be drawn from the gift card. You should not need the enter the card info again.

I can get that much information on line. It is an amazonkindle gift card with a balance of $23 or $22 left. I used it to buy a cheap book right after Christmas. Now it will not take it. That is what I am trying to tell you. It wont take it.

Please provide detailed information regarding exactly what you are trying to do and HOW you are trying to do it. Are you using a Kindle device to try to purchase a book, or you trying to purchase something on your computer from Amazon? Exactly what happens when you try to check out?

I tried to purchase a book on my kindle fire just like I did the first time. Worked great. This morning I did exactly as I did the first time. Entered the code,etc. Nothing - Did not get my book

I use Amazon prime to order things all the time. No problem. this is different. If what you request does not work then I am going to just forget it. Its $23. The heck with it. It is not worth the frustration to me. I am just trying to use this amazonkindle gift card that, again, worked the first time and not this time. go figure Thanks Alison, again not upset with you

I believe that if you will make sure that One Click ordering is turned on, it will resolve your problem. One click ordering needs to be on so you can place orders from your Kindle. Your Kindle will then automatically use the gift card until is has been used up. When the balance on the card reaches 0 it will charge your default form of payment. All payment info needs to be entered at the Amazon website. Your Kindle pulls from there.
