My fire wouldn't open, pushed a bunch of buttons, now the screen in surrounded by a green light and if I punch something it talks but won't open. Would like to get back to normal.
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: don't know don't know, maybe three years
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: two days. did shutdown, I think it happened when shutting down and holding volume button

I am sorry you are having trouble here

Please reset the kindle by holding down the on/off switch for 40 seconds (use a watch to time) ignore any messages the kindle may display, then release your finger the kindle should reboot and re-load the operating system, you may have to do this both on and off the charger and upto 4 times before it resets.

Once back on the home page do you see anything on the screen?

If you plug in the Kindle Fire do you get any charging / power indication?

I have tried all offered, still have a voice telling me what my apps are, but won't open them, then I get a message to download voice to text or vice versa.......

Please deregister your Kindle Fire which will factory reset it and then can re-register it:

  1. From Home, swipe down from the top of the screen and then tap Settings.
  2. Tap My Account.
  3. Tap Deregister.

After restart setup like new

  1. From Home, swipe down from the top of the screen and then tap Settings.
  2. Tap My Account.
  3. Tap Register.
