I haven't used my Kindle for about 4 months. It is now

Customer Question

Hi. I haven't used my Kindle for about 4 months. It is now asking me for my PIN number.... I have no idea, can you help please?
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: Hi Pearl. It is a Kindle Fire, about 3 years old.
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: Not sure as it was working perfectly earlier on in the year, but now won't let me switch it on without PIN number. I have tried all the numbers that I wrote down i.e. SILK number. It is a Kindle 3.2.1.
JA: Anything else you want the eReader expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: no thanks, ***** ***** want to start using it again. It is fully charged.

This is usually an issue with the Firmware, so I would first like you to do this please.

Remove the charger from the Kindle and hold the power button to off for 35 seconds.

Release, then connect the charger and try to turn on the Kindle.

Let me know the results please

Thank you

Just got home so I will try this now. OK so I did this. I have now turned it on and it is still asking me for a PIN number. Please can you advise where I go from here?
Expert:  Richard replied 7 months ago.

ok, you will need to reset it then, then set it up

Enter the pin

Or if this is rejected

And choose to reset it

If it does not accept either, keep entering the wrong Pin until it asks if you want to reset it and choose to do this (a Factory Reset)

Once done, you can set up the Kindle again

Let me know please how you go
