JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: About 2-3 yrs old. I don' know the model
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: About a month. My computer was worked on and I'm not sure if that was the problem . got a new modem and router and for a second my Nook opened up to the puzzle feature but it has been "dead" ever since
JA: Anything else you want the ereader expert to know before I connect you?

This is usually an issue with the Firmware, so I would first like you to do this please.

Remove the charger from the Nook and hold the power button to off for 35 seconds.

Release, then connect the charger and try to turn on the Nook and use it.

ok, did the screen turn off when you did the instructions? Or is it turning on at all?
