Try resetting the firmware. To do this, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. Let me know if it still does not respond.
Try resetting the battery. To do this, plug it into the charger for 30 minutes. After that AND WHILE STILL PLUGGED IN, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
Sadly it seems it has failed. If you cleaned the edges and still no response, your only option is to purchase a new Nook. Once you register it to your account you'll have full access to all of your books.
