Would a single dose of Xanax 0.25mg show up on a urine drug

Customer Question

Would a single dose of Xanax 0.25mg show up on a urine drug screen? My daughter takes Xanax as prescribed--twice a day s needed--yet her drug screen 2 days later was negative for benzodiazepines, and she was kicked out of her doctor's practice. He said she must be selling it, which she is not doing. Thank you

The simple answer to your question is YES, a single dose of Xanax can be detected in urine for several days.

HOWEVER, the answer isn't that simple; Many of the tests for benzodiazepines are not as sensitive at identifying alprazolam (Xanax) as they are for Valium. There are a number of reasons for "false negative" drug tests. This article describes many of those reasons including dilute urine, interference from other medications, and sensitivity of the test.
