Dreams are often a reflection of the thoughts and emotions that we entertain during our day to day lives. Dreams allow a person to explore the full range of their emotions, anxieties, dreams and goals to allow a person to see what obstacles they need to remove from their lives as well as making the most of the opportunities presented to them.
To dream of having to dig your way out of the ground seeing skeletons and decomposed people suggests that you need to do away with limiting beliefs that are holding you back from being happy and living a fulfilled life. The skeletons are similar to the proverbial skeletons in your closet and suggest that you have things in your history that is defining who you are and that is creating a self-defeating mindset. By digging your way out of these things in your dream your sub-conscience mind is warning you to not entertain negative thoughts from your past as a constant focus on these thoughts will hold you back from breaking through these limitations.
This dream can also suggest that you are running away from something in your past. This could be a memory or an incident that attacked your confidence and self-worth and that you are still working through. The fact that you didn't feel suffocated or threatened suggests that you have it within yourself to overcome this past traumatic experience if you just look within yourself rather than allowing others to influence who you are and what you can achieve.
