My friend had this dream right after her brother passed away…

To dream of people that have passed away is our sub-conscience mind's way of remembering the person or allowing us to make better sense of the way in which they were lost and who they meant to us in our lives. When your friend views the anger of her brother she is simply seeing her own anger and frustration of having lost him in such a tragic manner. The anger on his face mirrors that anger that she has felt for losing her brother at the cause of such negligence that she is having trouble forgiving him for falling asleep at the wheel. Your friend is also obviously upset about his son's broken neck. Her anger and frustration may be slightly directed at her brother but she also feels like she could have done something to prevent this situation or wishes she could have. This is apparent from her chasing her brother through the front door of their childhood home where they would have felt safe and secure. The angry look on his face simply mirrors her disappointment for not getting to know him better when he was alive together with a feeling of being unable to prevent this tragedy.

To then find herself sitting with him in the back seat not knowing who is driving suggests that she would like closure on whether he was responsible for the accident which she will never know as implied from his silence. She would prefer that he wasn't responsible and it may very well be his way of coming to her to explain that there was more to the accident than him falling asleep at the wheel.
