A vehicle in dreams is often taken to represent the dreamer's self. Looking at your dream from that angle, the dream can be indicative that there is a situation in your present life where you feel that things are happening out of your control (the car taking speed and plummeting into the water) Talking with your friend in the dream about how to solve a problem may be about a the brain's to look at different solutions. Perhaps slowing down in reality than rushing into things or conclusions. The car flipping upside down can be symbolic of looking at things form another perspective and differently from what you've done so far. It could be listening to another's feedback about a situation/problem and how they see it resolving. When you made the statement in the dream that " it probably won't matter since we are probably going to DIE" can be a hint to not sell yourself short (if there has been something you've not tried out yet, to look at that option) To gain more clarity, ask yourself the question- in what area of my life do I feel out of control and what options could I have missed considering that can actually resolve this?
