Our 13-year-old dog, who has lived nicely with adult cats,

Customer Question

Our 13-year-old dog, who has lived nicely with adult cats, is behaving a little oddly with our new 16-week-old kitten. He is gentle with the kitten, but will stand over the kitten and push him (gently) under his body, so that the kitten is standing under the dog's abdomen. The kitten is very easygoing, and seems not to mind, but we've never seen our dog do this before, and we wonder what he is doing, or intends to do.

1) Has your dog been around cats this young before in his adult life?
2) Any chasing, growling or nipping behaviors?
